Candlestick Holder.
The holder consists of a base and a stem.
At the top, where a candle is placed has been converted into an oil container and a wick mechanism.
The container is present, but the wick mechanism is not.
The whole candle stick is highly covered with a variety of distinct decorations.
The base is decorated in floral arabesque design in the form of circles within circles.
The stem is divided into three distinct parts.
The lower part shows a floriated design in diagonal setting.
The middle section is decorated in a different floral design interspersed with 4 humans and 6 animals, including an elephant, a lion, a leopard, and a dear.
The upper part shows a floriated design in vertical setting
The candlestick is 2 feet and 1 inch tall.
The base is 15 inch in diameter, and the diameter of the stem is 5.5 inches. It weighs 7 pounds and 14.9 ounces.
This is a stunningly beautiful candlestick as one can see from the pictures.
It was wade in Northern India in the nineteenth century if not earlier.
It is in a very good condition despite the corrosion at the foot of the stem causing a hole as big as a quarter.
There is another hole in the base but this one appears to have been drilled specifically to electrify the candlestick, but the electrification never took place.
Tall candlesticks like this one are reserved to a castle, a place of worship, or a meeting place.
